Wavytalk Power Wave Hair Crimper review: how I get beach waves that last three days
Power Wave Hair Crimper. S-shaped plates, negative ions, no scalp burn. The beach waves that last three days.
My verdict
This is the crimper behind every beach wave on my hair page, and yes, I bought it myself. The S-shaped plates give a rounded wave with no lasagna lines, the timer beeps so you are not frying a section, the negative ions keep my hair smooth, and there is no smoke. On me the waves last about three days without touching them up.
How I use it
- Dry hair, heat protectant, and check the pamphlet for the setting for your hair type.
- Small sections, clamp from the root down. The S plates go right up to the scalp without burning.
- Six seconds on the top sections, four on the ends.
- Shake it out, brush lightly if you want less volume.
- No product needed to hold it.
Who this is for
Long or medium hair that wants beach waves in ten minutes, fine hair that frizzes with other tools, anyone who has ever been accused of lasagna hair.
Who this is not for
Already heat-damaged or very short hair, or if you want pin-straight or tight ringlets. Heat is heat. Deep condition first, then play.
Questions I get about it
Does a crimper give you lasagna hair?
The old flat zigzag ones do. The Power Wave has S-shaped plates, so the wave is rounded with no hard line at the start of each section.
How long do the waves last?
About three days on me without washing or touching them up.
Can I use it on fine hair?
Yes. Use the low heat setting and the negative ion mode, the blue lights, to keep it smooth.
